Unfortunately I’m reporting this after the fact this year. But hopefully this will be a yearly event from now on (… once again!). If so, I’ll be sure to get more information out sooner.

I went to check it out (…. as a spectator that is!). It was a fun time. The weather was good and the ice was like glass, nearly perfect. … Wow, some of the snowmobiles were fast!!!

There were lots of spectators, and many parked their cars and trucks right on the ice (… not me thank you!). There were concession stands on the ice too.

This was a 2 day event (Saturday and Sunday), sponsored by the Eastern Speed Association. Registration for both days was from 8-9:30 am and there was pre-registration on Friday.

The Schroon Lake drag races were open to the general public as well as professional snowmobile drag racers. There are several classes for participants choose from.

The races were held on Schroon Lake adjacent to the town beach. The racing was supposed to begin at noon, But it was more like 1pm by the time all the classes and participants were finalized.

There were door prizes, and awards were presented each day following the races.
