Cronin's Golf Resort
It’s just a short (…. and scenic!) drive from our chalet at Loon Lake. It’s where my kids learned to play golf and brings back fond memories of family vacations of the past. Cronin's is located just above Warrensburg in a picturesque valley along the scenic Hudson River in upstate New York. It has been family owned and operated for well over 60 years. The golf course is well maintained and the owners are very friendly. There is a natural grass driving range and a putting green, a good place to warm up before you start your round. The Course: The course is 18 holes, par 70, 6121 yards long, and fairly challenging. The first four holes are right along the Hudson River (… if you slice it you may find your ball later along the banks of the Hudson River in Albany or New York City!... kidding!).
Throughout the course you’ll witness splendid views of the surrounding mountains and beautiful landscape (… makes for some great Adirondack Mountain photographs!). The course is often upgraded and features bunkers strategically placed, multi-tiered greens, ponds, and tree-lined fairways. A couple of holes on the back nine have narrow fairways lined with tall pine trees, which makes for some challenging play. Like the 17th (… I think?) with a dog-leg to the right. If you slice it just right off the tee (… fortunately "for this hole" a slice is my natural swing!), you can get your ball just over the pines and on the green or pretty close. The Club House: The Club House is a casual relaxing way to play your 19th hole. It overlooks the Hudson River and the valley. The lounge serves lunch daily and has a full bar. It is open to the public and hosts events. Golf Outings:
Cronin's Golf Resort can serve as an “overnight summer camp” with Warrensburg lodging (Adirondack Mountain cottage) rentals available. This is great for one of those corporate events, romantic Adirondack getaways, a reunion with family and friends, or just the guys (… or women’s outdoor adventures too!). The resort has cottages (… with a view of the Hudson River and Adirondack Mountains) for groups of up to 75 people and offers one day, weekend, or weekly packages with breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is something to do for everybody, even those that don’t want to play golf. Other activities available for your Adirondacks vacation include: swimming, canoeing, hiking, fishing, rowboats, lounge, swimming pool, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, children's play area, swing sets, game room, table tennis, and nightly campfires. I have never stayed at Cronin’s Golf Resort (…because my vacation home is so close) but I’ve played golf there several times. I highly recommend it. It is one of my favorite activities in the Adirondack Mountains. Directions from North or South:
