Americade

Americade is a motorcycle rally for touring motorcycles of all kinds. It is a week-long event located in Lake George village, New York and is scheduled annually for the first week of June. Check our events calendar for the exact date each year.

It is promoted as the largest motorcycle touring rally in the world!

Activities include demonstration rides from most motorcycle manufacturers, mini tours rides, group tour rides to an assortment of great places in New York and Vermont, the TourExpo trade show, cruises, poker runs, fireworks, and much more.

History:

The biker rally initially started in 1971 as “Aspencade“ in Ruidoso, New Mexico ….(We’ve been there when visiting our daughter in New Mexico and lost a couple of dollars in the casino there too!).

The original name came from an annual event that celebrated the changing colors of the aspen trees.

In 1983 the event was moved to the Lake George, NY vicinity and was renamed "Aspencade East" The TourExpo tradeshow was held at the Glens Falls Civic Center near by. Over 2,000 people attended.

In 1986, "Aspencade East" changed names again to "Americade”, to better represent the fact that it was now truly a national bike week event welcoming any make and size of motorcycle, not just the Harley Davidson owners group. In fact believe it or not Harleys are not the dominant motorcycle brand registered at the event. (... come on you Harley owners, let's break this trend!)

Attendance had grown to almost 10,000 making it the largest motorcycle touring rally in the world.

The event was moved a few miles to Lake George Village where it is today, to make it closer to the activities, accommodations, and to better experience the scenic Adirondack Park and beautiful Lake George.

In 2004 TourExpo expanded the trade show to include the Lake George Convention Center because the trade show needed more space.

The event was attended by well over 60,000 people that year! Again, this made Americade the world's largest structured multi-brand motorcycle rally in the world!

Americade TourExpo is very active in the local community by helping raise nearly one million dollars for charity so far.

This motorcycle rally is noted for being a family-oriented rally. People attending are generally responsible individuals, respectful of others, and well-mannered.

Excessively loud motorcycles and people intent on disruptive behavior are discouraged from attending.

Accommodations:

There are plenty of places to stay. The most important decision you need to make is:

“Do I what to stay where all the action/night life is? …. or … "Do I want get away from Lake George in the evening for a good night's rest, and be ready for the next activity packed day?

If you are looking for the nightlife and to participate in the madness there are a few hotels and plenty of motels and cottages in the Lake George Village area.

If you are looking for a more quiet Adirondack Mountain experience and a very scenic/enjoyable ride to the village the next morning there are also a lot of places to choose from.

There are motels, cottages, and vacation home rentals available a short distance to the north in Warrensburg, Bolton Landing, and Chestertown (…. Like our Adirondack Chalet at Loon Lake!).

For those who prefer to go camping there are several campgrounds in the area including state campsites at Hearthstone just north of the village and Eagle Point on Schroon Lake.

Places to Eat:

There are obviously too many places to eat to possibly mention them all. Just browse around and ask others attending for their recommendations. Eateries range from 5 star restaurants to hot dog carts! (... and everywhere in between). I'm sure you find what you're looking for!
