Willows Bistro

Willows Bistro - 1

I highly recommend Willows Bistro if you are in the Loon Lake, Warrensburg, Lake George area of the Adirondack Park.

I actually came across the Bistro by chance in search of a local travel magazine that features attractions, dining and more in the Adirondacks (… The Adirondack Guest Informer).

I was just going to run in and pick up the magazine and leave. But my wife liked the looks of the Bistro from the outside and wanted to come in with me.

Willows Bistro 2We both were immediately impressed with the atmosphere in this tiny quaint Bistro. The walls and shelves were filled with photographs, paintings, drawings, and books from very talented local Adirondack artists and authors.

… More on this in a minute, but first a little bit about the food.

The Willows Bistro is open for breakfast and lunch every day except Mondays (… as of this writing: Tuesday - Saturday 7:00am - 3:30pm, and Sunday 10:00am - 4:00pm). The Bistro features a delicious menu of reasonably priced food. And of course awesome gourmet coffee!

Breakfast:

  • A variety of breakfast omelet sandwiches and wraps

  • Bagels

  • Muffins

  • Scones

  • Croissants

  • Gourmet coffee

  • Tea

  • Juices

Lunch:

  • A wide variety of hearty sandwiches, panini’s, and wraps (… or “build your own!)

  • A variety of delicious salads recipe

  • Nutritious fresh homemade soups

  • Kids menu

  • Gourmet Soda

  • Lemonade

  • Gourmet coffee

  • Tea

  • Bottled water

  • Juices

About the coffee:

At the Willows Bistro they take their coffee very seriously. They have their own unique signature blend of coffee roasted only for this Bistro. Every pot of coffee is ground fresh and just seconds prior to preparation. They guarantee 100% satisfaction!

Their full service coffee bar includes:

  • Espresso

  • Cappuccino

  • Cafe Americano

  • Cafe Latte

  • Flavored Latte

  • Chai Tea Latte

  • Mocha Latte

  • A special flavored coffee of the month

I have to admit, when I first recommended this Bistro, all we had to eat was some of the home made (...Broccoli Cheddar) soup as it was our first time there and we had already eaten lunch. It was scrumptious (… and gluten free for all those of you with celiac disease)!

Willows Bistro 5A couple of weeks later we were again in the area to attend the Lake George Winter Carnival with friends and decided to stop in for breakfast. I had the Seattle Sunrise Omelet (... absolutely delicious!!!).

My friend had the Texas Two Step which he raved about (... that's what I'm getting next time!). We will be back soon for a full lunch, I’m sure.

… More about the atmosphere and the art!

The dining area consists of a half a dozen or so tables which makes it very cozy and quaint. Bring your laptop computer!

The Bistro offers a place for internet users to just relax with a great cup of coffee and surf the internet for that next Adirondack event or adventure to experience. While at the same time you are surrounded by wonderful ever changing original works of Adirondack art and literature to view and purchase.

Another cool thing about the Bistro is that proprietor Debbie Swan hosts literary arts “readings” by a variety of writers who read from their work for the enjoyment of patrons (… no charge).

The readings are currently held on the second Thursday of each month.

Willows Bistro 4So you can see … The Willows Bistro is much more than just a good place to eat ( … with great coffee!). It’s a place to relax and enjoy delightful Adirondack exhibits of paintings, photography, literature and the artists who create them.

After all … The word “willow” means “healer” and it is Willows Bistro’s goal to not only heal your hunger and thirst, but also and your need for your Adirondack visual and literary gratification.

I recommend that you give the Willows Bistro a try. Whether you are in Lake George for “Americade" in June, to attend the Warrensburg “World's Greatest Garage Sale” in October, or to ski at Hickory Ski Center or Gore Mountain in the winter, I bet it won’t be your last visit!

I know we will be back often. Especially on the way back home from our chalet after an Adirondack weekend get-away, or one of our fantastic Adirondack Mountains vacations.

When you go, be sure to mention that Jeff from “Loony About Adirondacks” sent you!
