Main Street Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant

Their new location is somewhat of a landmark in the area. In the 1920's the building was the local school house. Until recently it was the Town of Chester Town Hall. The building has been beautifully restored.

The restaurant moved to the new location sometime around 2005. Before that it was located just up the street and has served ice cream since 1893. Located in the quiet hamlet of Chestertown, this is truly a real old-fashioned ice cream shop.

This is a family run business owned and operated by Bruce & Suzanne Robbins. The atmosphere is unique and enjoyable. The soda fountain ambiance brings you back to days of long ago.

If you are going just for dessert it’s definitely worth the trip. They have scrumptious ice cream! They also have homemade pies. ...Try the blueberry pie a la mode! …. Delicious!!

The Main Street Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant has some superb sandwiches for lunch and dinner. They have a great selection including sandwich specials that are not your ordinary cuisine. They have sensational homemade soups too. The chef, Bruce, (… who is also the owner by the way), is exceptional!

For dessert (… if you have room), treat yourself to one of your much loved ice cream dishes. When you’re done it’s time to go upstairs to check out the cute gift shop.

Here you’ll find many unique Adirondack themed souvenirs and items, many of which are made by local artisans.

• If coming from the Northway I-87, take exit 25.

• At the end of the ramp take Rt 8 West.

• Go about a mile.

• Turn left at the traffic light (Rt. 9).
